Exports to grow by 6% in 2010

KAMPALA-Uganda’s export receipts will rise by 4-6% in 2010 compared to last year, helped by higher commodity prices and growing demand in key markets, the Uganda Export Promotion Board (UEPB) said on Monday.

Commercial farmers in Butaleja district have asked the Government to help control the declining rice prices. The farm gate prices for rice have collapsed from sh750 and sh1,200 to between sh500 and sh950 for Kaiso and super respectively since January.
